Ferguson wins for being the only one to make fun of Democratic incompetence. And no Jeff, you watch the Daily Show. Clearly you are not a real American.

Crap, your right. I guess that's why I'm voting third party.
Yeah, Ferguson is really what made me post it.

On a totally different topic.... Jeff since you and I are the only ones posting in here I'm gonna post just for you. I just found this editorial in the Washington Post by some fiscal conservatives: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02955.html
What caught my eye was the capital gains tax which you had been so worried about before. Looks like it would only go up from 15% to 20%, not 40% as you had posted before. I doubt you'll like it any better, but it's not at bad as you had originally thought. Otherwise it pretty much backs up your arguments.

Damn it, I have another one. I watched the SNL from this past weekend. I have to say, they're political satire has been damned good this year. I present the Barack Obama Variety Half Hour: http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/ ... ss/787181/

My personal favorite: "White Devils be craaaaaaaaazy! White Devils be craaaaaaazy."

Yeah, lowering income tax, but raising gains tax, just moves the dam upriver a little. It is a sad though that companies will decide to forego profits to avoid moving into a higher tax bracket, but that is where it is at. I really think the dividend tax is illegal, but once a tax is imposed it is rarely lifted without a tea party or some other domestic disturbance.

I'm pretty sure I got the 40% from a quote from the Tax Policy Center. This article says 20%. Obama's site says he will eliminate it*.
http://www.barackobama.com/taxes/
Eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses, cut corporate taxes for firms that invest and create jobs in the United States, and provide tax credits to reduce the cost of healthcare and to reward investments in innovation.
Here is my question, what is the right answer?

* The below sounds mean spirited, and I don't mean it to. Best not to read it.
I can find no mention of him raising taxes, though you do find the mention of the 20% gains and dividend tax under, FACT #3: Under the Obama Plan, No One Will Pay Higher Tax Rates Than They Paid in The 1990s. So we are clear, he wants to eliminate it and raise it.

Brilliant!

As for the capital gains tax, note the wording of the obama web site: "for small businesses." That means the rest of us can get bent. I'm gonna go with the 20% from the article as they directly address the 40% statistic and refute it. Definitely a pain in the ass to figure out exactly what is being proposed when even the non-partisan groups can't agree. And fuck you very much for making me read small print =P

Sorry, use copy/paste.

Correct, as a homeowner I'm against the Gains Tax*. They are slowly stealing all of our investments. Today the Dividend Tax is 15%, next election it will be 20%. Everyone's 401K should be completely wiped out by then, so no one will care.

Thanks for posting that article. Possibly some of the confusion comes from the fact that this elections has been going on for YEARS**, and so much crap has been said.

Thank god for Snopes and FactCheck.
Maybe if the Christian Science Monitor had been more about telling the truth, it's doors would still be open.

But I digress. Good luck to our future president. Maybe he will make some time to listen to great guys like Paul and Kucinich.

* I believe I stated 39% and that was total, not just Gains Tax.
** And people who forward e-mails are ugly hate mongers.

And I'm referring you to Colbert to be put on notice for using too much fine print!
