Ask Boagrius, how did that Chaos army work out?

When you say no magic, do you just mean wizards or even no magic items?

Good Day, Jeff.

I am thinking no magic at all wizards or items. But, if a item such as the true cross or the christ spear found at anticoh or other holy relics that would make my troops fight better that would be fine.

Sincerely

Magic Items balance out weaknesses, but are by no means required. I tend to use them sparingly, preferring not to put all my points in one basket. You can always take an item and call it something else, i.e. a magic hammer could also be a lucky lance.

Does this also mean you will forego the Lady's blessing? (Jason faints) Don't worry about, you need to get some games under your belt before you really know your play style.

I have played magic-less with both Lizardmen and Skaven, and though the games were fun, I found them lacking a certian pizazz. The thing about magic is, you don't miss it until you do.

On the flip side I just wrote a 4 wizard list. Will it work, who knows. Will there be a lot of Warp Lightening is someone's future, YES!

Thomas, in previous editions of Warhammer you probably would have been screwed not taking any wizards. In the current edition of the game, however, you might be ok. You'll be at a disadvantage, but I think you can definitely pull it off in friendly games.

Magic items are pretty easy to do without, especially on hero level characters. They're pretty cheap points-wise and are great bang for their buck without magic items. Lord level fighter characters (ie Bretonnian Lords) are usually worthwhile to pimp out a little bit. You'll be fine not doing so, but being able to pile on 100 points of magic items allows for some pretty dangerous combinations of lords and are impossible on the hero level characters since they can only use 50 points of magic items.

It is easier to do no magic items on Bretonnians because you have all of the different virtues you can take. But you should not shy away from them. Enchanted shield increases your save by 1 for just 10 pts, I beleive. It is not to bad. Are you trying to avoid the magic to make your army closer to historical? Or do you have something against fairies?

Good Day, All.

So, I started reading the rule book this weekend. Since I will be fighting Lizards, Orcs and Elfs. It seems to me to be a little silly to go with complete historical accuary in my army. Not sure how much magic I'll use, but I won't say no based on history. This is a fantasy game after all and I'll be playing by it's rules.

Sincerely

Thomas
