The death of Bits

Starting 15 June, retailers that get their product directly from GW are no longer allowed to sell bits.

The actual policy letter can be found here (section III is the new part referring to bits):

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2zne5e ... BlUGs/edit

The reasoning given is unbelievably stupid. I still don't understand why the hell they got out of the bits business. Now they're either getting back into it, or so greedy that they're forcing us to buy whole boxes to get any spare bits. GW business practices are pretty close to making me not want to buy their stuff anymore.

its a good thing that most of us have a hoard of bits left...

It is sad. I love so much about the fluff, and models but have always hated the GW corprate.

However there is not much room or need for conversions in warmachine but i have been kicking around the idea of giving it a try here in AUS

I may start a Cryx army... just to fart around.

I've been kicking around trying flames of war and kings of war.

I got the Flames of War Rules if you ever want to borrow them. I have a pretty sizeable US Paratrooper army. Never played a game yet though. Still working on painting them. Historical players get all pissy if it isn't painted.

I was considering the same type of army unfortunately. I've played one game down in Arizona. Seemed fun, but I'd have to see how I do without an expert walking through the game.

Unfortunatly, publicly traded companies are very concerned with branding, and the idea of GW getting back into bits, is likely to be wishful thinking. If they do they will do it through Forge World, which will be way too expensive. Boo. I was never able to find those good ork engine bits.

How ironic actually. I just started my brood lord, and he is an old Warrior head, Carnifex head, two ravenger torsos and tail, biovore (or maybe Warrior) arms, Hormagaunt arms, and an OLD tyrants legs.

Dammit Kevin, you jinxed me. I can't find my bin of Bug Bits. I'll I need is two stupid shoulder pads.

I stopped at DakkaDakka last night, and there was a post stating that GW will stop distrubution to AU like they did in Canada. Probably just an interenet rumor, but may be woth checking out.

Jason, you doing an order before the internet sales end?

The internet sale guys should actually be untouched by the new trade policy. All the restriction of online retailers were already in place.

I'd have a hard time believing GW would stop selling in AU. They commit highway robbery over there, so I have no idea why they would want to stop that. I'm not sure what you're talking about "like they did in Canada." They still sell in Canada just fine.

I said "stop distrubution", not selling. I'm not sure what that means exactly, and neither did the posters. Probably nothing, but I thought maybe Kevin had heard something.

I heard in French Canada all GW boxes come with little white flags. Or maybe I just made that up. Somebody repost on Bell of Lost Souls.
