Combat: How to Die
So your dead. The blow got you and now you have to do something, so here is some friendly advice:
1. Call "dead". Make eye contact if you can so that you and the guy beating you realizes the combat is over.
2. Fall down if you can. Get out of the way, or people will keep hitting you. Drop your weapon, or you stand a chance of getting hit again on your way to the ground. Once on the ground, tuck your hands under your head or against your body if you can. Under your head, your hands will support your neck, against your body will keep them from being stepped on.
3. Roll out when combat has left your area. Grab your weapon by the offensive end (blade, spearpoint, etc) and keep it low. Once you stand again put your hand on your head to display a nonaggressive posture.
4. Move off the battle field. If there is a resurrection point, behind there is good. Pay attention to where you are standing and watching the fight, don't block the view of spectators and especially camera men.
5. If you absolutely can not fall down and must walk out of a combat, call "dead", tap the location of the blow, and in a following motion place that hand on your head to show you are no longer a threat. Get out of the way, quickly. You just became a liability, a hole in the line. If you had fallen down, at least the enemy would have had to step over you to get into the back ranks, now they can just follow you back into the ranks, and use you as a shield against your own unit. Run to the resurrection point, you need to get yourself alive.
6. At the resurrection point, you may rest if need be. Form up with some friends before rejoining the fight, don't run off by yourself. Finally, wade back into combat where you are needed most, not necessarily where you started.
