We don't play big box 4X games anymore, but man I want these. However, that's a chunk a change. So let's have a Head to Head!
Blood Rage vs Scythe
Blood Rage
Viking Clans battling for glory as Ragnarok comes.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/co ... blood-rage
Scythe
Steam powered mechs in an alternate-universe 1920s.

Blood Rage looks a little like Kemet but simpler. Scythe looks completely different. You know my Morg, my choice is both. I miss Twilight Imperium though.

Our next Battle:
Lords of Waterdeep vs Champions of Midgard
Lords of Waterdeep:
Dungeons and Dragons themed - tried and true
Straight Euro

Champions of Midgard
Viking Theme - new hotness
Dice battles
https://youtu.be/d15Q2F-wXiQ
Lords of Waterdeep has been on my list for years, but was a bit heavy for our crowd. However, we are playing heavier games so maybe its time. In my reviews, I found Champions of Midgard which seems like a more steamlined, more visual attractive update. And it's Vikings! Though DnD is the godfather of all themes!
Where should I throw my money!

Well... I might put Blood Rage up against Champions of Midgard.

Co-Op Games
I want both, but I think we should all chip in, as these games you can only play once. Some have said, "These are more like an experience; the game is secondary. You need a good group (3-4 people) that is willing to get into the story." So where you throwing your money first?
Pandemic Legacy: Season 1
A game of Pandemic where every decision have an effect on the future (games). Cards are ripped up, the board is destroyed, and secret twists are encountered along the way. You don't just play a role, you play a character.
Pro: If you love Pandemic, you'll love this
Con: If you hate Pandemic, you'll hate this

or
T.I.M.E Stories
Think quantum leap meets groundhog day. Players work together to solve puzzle in this choose-your-own-adventure style game.
Pro: Might be able to pick up a cheaper used copy
Con: New stories are released quarterly, and only one story comes in the base box.

So what are we missing…
What about an asymmetrical, one versus many, hidden movement game:
First contender, Fury of Dracula (3rd edition):
https://youtu.be/wZLedjN1m-U
Duration: 2-3 hours – feels faster, short downtime.
Pro: Fantasy Flight Game, Reprint, classic theme, punching Dracula in the face
Push: Deterministic combat - some people don’t like this – hard if you don’t know what to look out for if you are new.
Con: Dracula is tough to beat – he will kick your butt – or escape … his name IS on the box. Overall look is muted.
Second Contender, Specter Ops
https://youtu.be/Yojkpz8XNQI
Duration: 1 hour – Plays quick
Pro: Plaid Hat Games, Metal Gear meets Sci-Fi, unique powers
Push: Traitor rules not for everyone
Con: Need FAQ to explain when powers conflict,
I look at these games and I wonder how hard it might be to apply these rules/concepts to Executioners Force… Walls beat Chaos, not my murder machine. Sad face.

Champions of Midgard did not suck. Our second game with a new player, came in at a little over an hour.
Scythe has been pushed back until Aug 2016, at this rate Seafall will come out first.

This is mostly for Gregor...
Risk: Star Wars Edition Game (Red) $23.68
vs
Risk: Star Wars Edition Game (Black) $49.99
Same game, so is the Black edition worth double the price...

You decide.
Do you pimp this version, or do you save the cash for Rebellion or Forbidden Stars? (possible head to head)

Rebellion. Save for Rebellion.

I was not thinking about it at the time, but Risk: Star Wars Edition is only 2 players. I think that was my main strike against it.
Rebellion plays 2 or 4. A four-hour play time though has me a little gun shy.
