Some of us were sitting around at Pennsic talking about doing a war in the fall and I stupidly volunteered. The Japanese have a saying: the nail that sticks up gets hammered down. That's about right.

It's set at the same site the SCA has used for years and some other reenactment units are using now, as well. This is purely a camping, fighting, feasting, campfire-style event. No need for pomp and ceremony.

And here's the Text: Please join us for a fighting and camping event from Friday night through Sunday morning at the Croom Airport Road campsite of the Patuxent River Park.

Some details are still being worked out, updates to follow. We do have an optional fall back date if stuff just doesn't work out.
Details: Getting there: using google maps, drive past the gate entrance of the park itself and continue on Croom Airport Road until it Ts at an area with fields and a barn. Turn right at the T and drive to the end. You may drive to the camping area to the far left of the barn but please return your car to the parking area ASAP. No cars will be left near the camping.

Flushies on site, which we will be sharing with Boy Scouts so please, keep> it clean.>> Discreetly wet, please no original containers and police trash. It's a nice park and we'd like to keep using it, thanks! SCA-style fighting on Saturday starting around 11 am SCA time. Run by Ondraedan and ?someone? Bueller??

Check in with me after 4 pm Friday. Clear site by Noon Sunday. Saturday night feast hosted by Gesa, fee for feast built in to camping> fee. Day trippers can arrange to feast, just email me!

Fees: Camping $12.00 per person includes feast. Day trip $5.00, excludes feast. NO ground fires! Bring fire bowls/chimineas. We will bring at least one with us. Any excess of fees will be held by Oona to roll over into a following event.

I'll tell ya what: next year around January 1st I'll call the park and book this event for mid-October or mid-November. I couldn't make it happen this year but will next. Forgive me this year, not enough pre-planning.

Brand new this year! Picnic pavilion, bathrooms, and the barn is getting a face lift as well.
