Galatian Thanksgivin'

Cook and Kelly are graciously hosting this year. The secret ingredient for the cook off is chocolate/cocoa, but no deserts. If you want to bring a desert it is okay, but it will not be apart of the Iron Chef Off.
Date is the day after Thanksgiving.

There have never been rules against desserts, the first ingredent was pumkin and had both desserts and meals(pasta I believe), so I say desserts are permitted.

Is it any "type" of chocolate? In other words does white chocolate count? I would think it's not the same because it's not real chocolate, but you might want to specify only dark and milk etc..

@Boag, Brian won last year, and that is the ingredient he chose with the stipulation. Chocolate dessert is kind of a cop out to me.

At Mission, I believe Brian stated it must contain "cocoa powder". I don't believe white chocolate counts as it's the fats pulled off in the process of making cocoa powder. That said, that should not stop you, you just might not get my vote. I believe Brian liked the challenge of no desserts, but did not exclude them. Personally, I'd rather have, than have not, so I side with Chris and says desserts are open. Moreover, with a bitter ingredient like cocoa, it takes a great deal of fat and sugar to counteract the flavor, so dessert-like entries may be more common. The line on what is a dessert might be a bit fuzzy, and so I hate to see someone lose because of it.
I say go nuts and make whatever killer recipe you have.
BTW, I don't have a sweet tooth so I probably won'r pick a dessert, just saying.

Everything should be open as I hate to see challenges pigeon-holed.
Chocolate has great diversity, but can be very tricky if you remove the deserts. While choco- veggies, meats, fish, sound intresting, it could be disasterous.
Plus if you can come up with something out of the area of desert it just lends more towards your creativity. I say bring it on in all its forms, white, dark, milk, bittersweet, powder, or even bean

No joke. Cocoa beans are poisionous. They actually have to be boiled and then left to ferment to neutralize the toxins. How do I know that? Maybe I should look that up.

We will be there, but it doesn't look like I will have time to make a dish for competition. I gotta work on this project for Business Mngt class because we present next week and 2 people have dropped off the face of the earth... yay more research for me.
