First, get Daniel to read the rules of the list. Second, verify they are doing Auths.

I can't come. It's mothers day, it's Becky's grandmother's 82nd birthday, and my sister is in town.

But yeah, before authorizing him, make sure he knows the rules and practices with those rules in mind. We don't want to get him to the authorization only to fail. If he acts in an unsafe manner (offensively or defensively) he will be failed and it will look quite bad on us. Not to mention that he will want to authorize in two-hander first which is highly frowned upon by the SCA chiv. They always want to new people to authorize in sword and shield first, so if they don't they tend to be much tougher on them.

Ahead of you on both counts. He will authorize with sword and shield first to ease over his gr8 sword auth later talked to him bout that already and I told him to read the rules. It being mothers day is another matter and he may not be able to go he will be at practice tonight to get more time getting acclimated to the rules.
