Poor Sword - Arm Position
You may stand ready with your sword to the side, prepared to attack in a combination of blows. However, this is wrong, because it does not provide you flexibility. Fighting is much like arm wrestling. Your arms should be out in front of you and be able to move forward and back at the elbow. The further your arms are to your sides, the less flexible your arms become. They are forced to move forward or break; hence the reliance on a combination attack, as the first attack carries no guarantee. With your arms in front, you are more flexible. You can choose between attacking in combination or one well timed blow.
