When: June 8-10, 2007, you can come starting at 4 on Friday
Why: Because events are awesome, and this one is even awesomer.
Cost: $10 for the weekend or $5 for a day (this means no sleeping over)

Ways to win prizes:

We are having some tournaments/ competitions at this event so I wanted to post them here.

1. Viking Football - Friday Evening
A great Markland pastime and fun for all. This will be like a backwards version of the Markland Warlord Tourney. We start with 2 groups. The winning group splits and the losing group is out. This continues until there are 2 people left and the last man standing on his side wins. Teams will be chosen randomly.

2. Stabbing Tourney - Saturday during fighting
Anyone who wants can participate. Each participant may use a single dagger, two daggers, or a dagger and buckler combination. All participants will stand (armored) in a circle with challengers in center. Challengers will fight to the death and outsiders will keep them in the circle without use of weapons. This will be double elimination.

3. The Shame of the Crown - Saturday evening
Each participant is to prepare 1 song, skit, poem, dance, whatever performancy thing they want. The performance must be at least somewhat original and completely bawdy (rude, not pc, making fun, Markland thugy). Extra points will be awarded for making fun of the royalty during this event. A suggested royal donation of liquid comfort may not hurt your standings. Participants will be judged on bawdiness of performance, crowd pleasing/entertainment value, and performance quality equally. Points are awared first by how much you offend the royals, second by audience applause and reaction, and third (and only if neccessary in case of a close call) by overall performance quality judged by former royal bard, Natalia Yashovna.
