Why did you use a rataan spear at this SCA event?

Dan backed out at the last minute. He had been sick, but he was really going to try and go to this war.

I do not see how dan not being there caused you to use a rataan spear? Is the fiberglass to dangerous for you to use when Daddy Dan is not around?
