So I did*. To that end, don't worry about us attacking you, in our hearts of hearts we are not. It's just old men talking, sharpening their wits on a young man's opinions. I listen, remember**, and reguritate later. Actually, this is the most I've ever seen Ahrimen post, someone must have kick out his cane.

* Old hickory still deserves some love though.
** Though I seem to forget names. I'm suprised you let me go on the Baptist Papers.

We are truly the most fortunate people on earth, and perhaps the greatest civilization in history. Still, we didn't get that way by accepting the status quo when there's a problem. Non-violent dissent is the core of a strong Democracy so the whole concept of our citizenry sitting down and shutting up is frankly un-American.

My personal objections to Bush Jr. are on Constitutional grounds, it being a document he seems to think as an obstacle to be avoided, rather than something to be preserved and protected.

Yeah. I've said it before, but I'll say it again, the main issue for the 2012 election will be privacy and what measures the goverment can take to keep us "safe".

However, back to the the original article, the author does draw a point to the disperity caused between the opinion of one president and the next as the media portrays that president. To me Clinton was just as crooked as Bush, but at least Bush, in general, has done most of his most shameful acts right out in the open. Bush may abuse the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act, but at least they went through Congress. Bill Clinton did not have the congress, so he drew up propositions, which I believe can only be struck down by the Supreme Court (which he had a hand in picking).
Of those Proposition 85-95(or something like it, I can't find anything about Presidential Propositions at the moment) was probably the the most blantant over-abuse of government power. Clinton wrote it because it kept some military men from sueing the gov't to find out what was wrong with them. Though everyone knew what was wrong with them, we were burning nuclear waste and the wind shifted direction and posioned a number of airman. They died slowly, awaiting there day in court. With out a "fishman", as they had grown to be called as ther skin grew hard and scaly, to put on the stand and with the backing of the proposition, the supreme court was quick to dump the case.

Another classic line, we forget "it is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted for stocks of biological and chemical weapons"- Bill Clinton- 7-22-2003

Though I bet Grant and every president since the Revolutionary War has had to make a similar statement upon their leaving of office.

Also, back to you Fritz, recessions are a natural order of American Capitalism. They happen about every 12 years or so, if I remember correctly. This particular recession is different because it is not a true recession as it does not have the characteristicly high unemployment rate typical of most recessions. So to blame anyone for a recession or psudo-recession is off base. Now what should worry you is this report on Fannie Mae / Freddy Mac. You want to see a full on depression, see what happens when the gov't steps in to fix this. You wait until after the election and this gets dumped in the lap of the next president.

Well, I hope you guys vote, cuz peoiple like me, need people like you, to take care of us. I will happily keep my head buried in the sand. I don't read the paper, I don't watch TV. I don't even pay attention to what goes on around me. So I am glad that some of us are paying attention. My thanks, to ALL of you.

You do not have to agree, that's what makes this country great.
